Casablanca to Marrakech: Train, Bus, Taxi or Private Transfer?
Casablanca is about 240 km from Marrakech. The easiest way to travel between them is the ONCF train (around 2 hours 40 minutes from Casa Voyageurs, several departures a day), followed by CTM or Supratours buses (about 3–3.5 hours). From Mohammed V Airport, a pre-booked private transfer takes about 2.5–3 hours door to door and avoids changing trains.

By train
ONCF trains run from Casa Voyageurs station to Marrakech roughly every one to two hours during the day. First class guarantees a seat and is worth the small extra cost on busy days. Marrakech station is in Gueliz, a 10–15 minute taxi ride to the medina. Timetables and tickets are on the official ONCF website and app. Our guide to train travel in Morocco explains classes and booking.
From Mohammed V Airport by train
A shuttle train links the airport to Casablanca, where you change for Marrakech. Allow 4 hours or more including connections.
By bus
CTM and Supratours run comfortable coaches with air conditioning and luggage holds. They are slightly slower than the train but convenient if your hotel is near their stations.
By private transfer
A private driver collects you at the airport or your hotel and drops you at your riad (or the nearest accessible point in the medina). For families and groups, it is often cheaper per head than the train once taxis are added. You can also combine the transfer with sightseeing: our Casablanca city tour with the Hassan II Mosque is a good way to start a trip that lands in Casablanca.
By car
The A7 toll motorway is fast and well maintained. Tolls are moderate and payable at booths along the way. Read about private drivers vs self-drive before deciding.
Should you spend time in Casablanca?
Casablanca is a modern business city; most visitors stay half a day to see the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world and one of the few in Morocco open to non-Muslims on guided visits. Our Hassan II Mosque guide has visiting times and dress code. Travellers on a longer trip can start with the 7-day imperial cities tour from Casablanca.
